Grover Cleveland Lewis, 78, passed away Thursday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.  Born in Paris, Ky., he was the son of the late Cleve and Loretta Trimble Lewis, and was the husband of Betty King Lewis for 27 years.

He graduated from Minerva High School in Dover, Ky. He served in the United States Air Force for 21 years, and retired as a master sergeant.

He was an elder at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and a member of the VFW, American Legion, Air Force Sergeants Association and the DAV. He also served as president of the Goldsboro Exchange Club, as well as many other positions.

A funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1000 Eleventh St., Goldsboro, Monday at 2 p.m., with bishop John Bass officiating. Committal services with full military honors will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Monday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church, and at other times at his residence, 205 Pope St. in Pikeville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Renee Capps and husband, Robin, of Goldsboro, Gaynell Tew and husband, Jerome, and Misty Lewis of Florida; two sons, Keith Lewis of Oldsmar, Fla., and Kenny Lewis of Goldsboro; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna L. King and husband, Paul, of Paris, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Rhonda Keefer and husband, Gary, of Goldsboro and Andrea Beth Mooring of Fremont; and two stepgrandsons.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Janie Berryman of Lexington, Ky., and Mamie Phelan of Ohio.
